Work Experience 1

Let Them Eat Cake – Assisting Experience

Photographer: Vic Lentaigne

Stylist: Melanine Khorshidian

On the 22nd May 2012 at the Create Studios in Brighton I started my first experience with assisting on set. Initially I had been working earlier weeks with the Stylist on PR contacting and collecting, which I have had previous experience of prior to the shoot. As the shoot was low budget I was covered for expenses only, which was perfectly fine due to the fact that I knew that I would gain some great experience, contacts and that the work would be published for Let Them Eat Cake Magazine.

My role on set was pretty standard and I flicked between the stylist and the photographer in order to give a hand where it was needed. The stylist gave me lots of control often asking for my opinion and at times using my influences in her pieces. This I was very pleased with and as the day progressed our relationship began to build. This was very important as it meant that we were able to work together professionally while enjoying the shoot itself.

My work with the Photographer included holding the projector when needed, moving and adapting lights/set and taking down and packing the equipment away at the end of the day. Most importantly I tried to make sure that I was on hand at all times, but not getting in the way.

I am hoping that I will be able to work with both the Photographer and Stylist again as I very much enjoy their work and enjoy their method of working which I will be able to gain a lot from.
